In addition, according to Notícias ao Minuto, the same applies to information about "recovery, replacement, or other changes related to the status or validity" of personal identification documents that have been the subject of a previous request. "The personal identification documents covered by the service are as follows: citizen card, identity card, passport, residence permit or title," the news reads.
Therefore, "individuals must make a new request to the Bank of Portugal whenever the recovery, replacement, or other alteration of the status or validity of the personal identification documents that prompted a diffusion request" occurs.
"The Bank of Portugal will disseminate this new request through the banking system," as stated.
Also note that, "under normal conditions, Banco de Portugal informs the banking system about the loss or recovery of personal identification documents within a maximum of five working days after the presentation of the respective diffusion request".
Not all situations are included.
According to the news website, the Bank of Portugal warns that "this service does not cover situations of loss, theft, robbery, forgery, counterfeiting, or illegal use of bank cards, checks, or other payment methods", in these situations, "the respective holders must contact the issuing entity of these means of payment as soon as possible".
